acute care service.

Changes to Stratford Acute Care / Walk-In Service.

Why things are changing

At a time when many practices are experiencing very high demand and workforce pressures, we’re making some changes to how our Acute Care / Walk-In service operates at Stratford.

When you visit, our team will triage you on arrival and guide you to the safest next step.
Please note: not everyone may be seen on the same day.

We appreciate your patience and understanding toward our staff during this time. If your condition requires more immediate or same-day care, alternatives are available, including:
• Healthcare Hub
• Medicross
• Hawera Emergency Department

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.

How the service works

  • Walk in or phone one of our supporting clinics:
  • Efficient Triage: Our experienced nursing team will assess your condition and direct you to the appropriate care.
    • This may be a same-day consult, acute care appointment, or booking you in for another day.
    • Remember patients are seen by clinical urgency, not by arrival time.
  • Same-Day Assessments: Once triaged, our clinicians provide thorough evaluations and treatment where appropriate.
  • Operating Hours: Open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday. (selected Coastal Medical practices).
  • At Coastal Medical, your health is our priority.
